Once a dominant force in eastern U.S. forests, the American chestnut faced devastation from a deadly blight introduced from Asia. But it's not extinct; it's fighting to thrive again. The American Chestnut Foundation tirelessly works to develop blight-resistant strains and restore this iconic tree to its native habitat.
